Kenwood is a perfect 4-0 against Payton College Prep since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Broncos will host the Grizzlies at 5:00 p.m. Kenwood will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Kenwood's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Amundsen by a score of 3-0.
Not much got past Zach Asiyanbi, who gave up just two hits to keep Amundsen off the board. Asiyanbi has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kenwood let Damaurion Butler and Daniel Luster run wild. Butler went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Luster went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Butler has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Payton College Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Jones on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-0.
The result came thanks to Derek Patton's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Payton College Prep is undefeated when Patton allows three or fewer hits, but 10-17 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Sam Merrill was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
Kenwood's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Payton College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 13-17.
Everything went Kenwood's way against Payton College Prep when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Kenwood made off with a 10-4 victory. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
