Alburnett had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They steamrollered Vinton-Shellsburg 49-7. The margin was wide but not a surprise since Alburnett is ranked far ahead of Vinton-Shellsburg in the MaxPreps state rankings. This was the first game for both teams, giving Alburnett a 1-0 record and starting Vinton-Shellsburg off at 0-1.
Next week, Alburnett take on Highland at 7:00 PM. Keep an eye on the score for this one : both teams put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet up. As for Vinton-Shellsburg, they will face of against Tipton.
