The DuBois Beavers will head out on the road to challenge the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. DuBois is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Things were looking good for DuBois after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Indiana by a score of 5-3.
Noah Farrell put in work no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Farrell wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trey Wingard, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, DuBois Central Catholic made sure to put some runs up on the board against St. Marys on Saturday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Flying Dutch. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like DuBois, DuBois Central Catholic also got a great game from a two-way player: Blake Pisarcik. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Pisarcik has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, DuBois Central Catholic got a massive performance out of Brayden Fox, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, four runs, and two doubles. Those seven RBI gave Fox a new career-high. Aiden Snowberger was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
DuBois Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Marys only posted an OBP of .421.
DuBois Central Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for DuBois, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both DuBois and DuBois Central Catholic just can't seem to miss. The Beavers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like DuBois Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
DuBois took their win against DuBois Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-8 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
