The Basis Yeti had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They breezed by Grand Canyon at home to the tune of 78-30. Considering Basis has won five matchups by more than 19 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jack Engelthaler continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The game was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Rowdy McGourin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Several Phantoms players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Everett Rommel, who scored eight points. Rommel scored a full 26.7% of Grand Canyon's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Lyle, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Grand Canyon struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Basis racked up 17 assists.
Basis pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.0 points per game. As for Grand Canyon, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Basis will head out on the road to face off against Northland Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Canyon will be home for the holidays to greet El Capitan/Centennial Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Capitan/Centennial Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.9 points per game.
