Auburndale is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Marathon is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will welcome the Red Raiders at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Auburndale 2.6, Marathon 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Saturday, Auburndale earned a 9-5 victory over Richland Center.
Auburndale got a big performance out of Danika Blomberg, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Breleigh Grimm, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.
Meanwhile, Marathon was able to grind out a solid win over Amherst on Friday, taking the game 8-4.
Tyla Beilke-Seubert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Marathon let Ripley Skrzypchak and Danica Staus run wild. Skrzypchak went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run, while Staus went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Skrzypchak a new career-high. Mylee Haehlke was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple.
Auburndale's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Marathon, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Auburndale has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Marathon struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Auburndale was able to grind out a solid victory over Marathon when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 8-5. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
