Northeastern had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Central York Panthers, falling 16-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-3 back in March.
Savannah LaRocco made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Leah Himes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Central York, their record is now 10-6. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Central York's side, Madelyn Sowers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Sowers has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Craiger, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alli Raynes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Coincidentally, Northeastern and Central York will both be playing Red Lion the next time they take the field. The Bobcats will host the Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
