The Merit Preparatory Academy Knights will head out on the road to take on the St. Joseph Jayhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Merit Preparatory Academy is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Merit Preparatory Academy was the victim of a tough 72-46 defeat at the hands of Rockwell. Merit Preparatory Academy was down 59-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Merit Preparatory Academy might have lost, but man, Stella Sutherland was a machine: she scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Sutherland scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizbeth Diaz, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph beat Rowland Hall 40-30 on Thursday. The win was just what St. Joseph needed coming off of a 87-19 defeat in their prior contest.
Merit Preparatory Academy has not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for St. Joseph, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Merit Preparatory Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Joseph in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, sneaking past 30-28. Does Merit Preparatory Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Joseph turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
