They were just one part of a punishing run game: J.H. Rose was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jaleek Parson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past New Bern to the tune of 67-34. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won three games by 21 points or more so far this season.
J.H. Rose better keep an eye on Amari Pearson. He was instrumental in Jacksonville's win, rushing for 331 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 20.7 yards per carry. Pearson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Jacksonville's record now sits at 5-0. As for J.H. Rose, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. J.H. Rose has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 158.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Jacksonville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 318 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
J.H. Rose took a serious blow against Jacksonville when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 53-20. Thankfully for the Rampants, Demon June (who rushed for 196 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, and also caught one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
