The Sage Creek Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Scripps Ranch Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sage Creek has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 645 points over their last nine games.
Even though Sage Creek has not done well against Canyon Crest Academy recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Sage Creek walked away with a 78-65 victory over Canyon Crest Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Elijah Stephens continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 43 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. Elias Samady was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 72-43 win over Escondido. Considering Scripps Ranch has won four matchups by more than 19 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sage Creek's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-2. As for Scripps Ranch, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
Sage Creek opened the new year with a less-than-successful 76-67 loss to Scripps Ranch. Can Sage Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
