Softball Recap: Wade Hampton's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Wade Hampton unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Spartanburg Vikings by a score of 8-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Generals of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Breleigh Betsill was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Emiliy McClain also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Wade Hampton's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Spartanburg, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wade Hampton will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Boiling Springs at 7:30 p.m. on March 24th. As for Spartanburg, they will challenge Blacksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Blacksburg's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Spartanburg's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
