The Trinity Pioneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Prospect Mountain Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Trinity is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Trinity needed a bit of extra time to put away Somersworth. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Toppers.
Emily Flynn was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Romano, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Pearson, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Trinity kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Somersworth only managed seven hits.
Meanwhile, Prospect Mountain entered their tilt with Monadnock on Friday with 14 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 15. They came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 6-3.
Alexis Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Prospect Mountain let Paige Harding and Liv Noyes run wild. Harding went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Noyes went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that Harding has hit this season.
Prospect Mountain pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Trinity, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.
Trinity's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's match. The Pioneers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Prospect Mountain, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Trinity continue to outrun the ball?
Trinity might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Prospect Mountain in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
