Baseball Recap: Southwest's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Southwest came into Friday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Carter-Riverside Eagles on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The team relied heavily on Diego Moran, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. William Maples was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Southwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Southwest's record is now 6-13. As for Carter-Riverside, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-13.
