The South Texas Christian Academy Panthers lost against Macedonian Christian on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. South Texas Christian Academy fell to Macedonian Christian 57-52. While losing is never fun, South Texas Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1436th, while Macedonian Christian is ranked 552nd).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carlos Saenz, who scored 18 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Armenta, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
South Texas Christian Academy now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Macedonian Christian, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 24-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Texas Christian Academy on the road again on Monday and play against Juan Diego Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. As for Macedonian Christian, they will square off against First Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
