Basketball Recap: Suncoast Sets Scoring Season-High Against Seminole Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Suncoast). They took their contest on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 73-15 win over the Seminole Ridge Hawks. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Hawks are ranked 711th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Suncoast to victory were Jamarey Harris and Walter Brinkley. Harris went 12 of 16 en route to 25 points and seven steals, while Brinkley made all 7 shots he took to post 20 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Harris a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Castor, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Suncoast was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seminole Ridge only racked up two assists.

Suncoast's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Seminole Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-12.

Suncoast wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-49 defeat against Dwyer on the 10th. As for Seminole Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 41-32 loss against Forest Hill on the 10th.
