Caledonia is 8-2 against Jenison since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Caledonia Fighting Scots are on the road again and plays the Jenison Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
On Tuesday, Caledonia lost to Hudsonville on the road by a decisive 62-45 margin. Caledonia has not had much luck with Hudsonville recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Caledonia got a solid performance out of Kyan Vanderwoude, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Jaiden Googins was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Jenison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight defeat. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-36 walloping at the hands of Grandville. While losing is never fun, Jenison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while Grandville is ranked 26th).
Caledonia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Jenison, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Caledonia beat Jenison 57-44 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Caledonia since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
