The Indian Rocks Christian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Tarpon Springs Spongers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Indian Rocks Christian will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Last Friday, Indian Rocks Christian beat LaBelle 34-22.
Indian Rocks Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anderson Dumm, who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown. Dumm really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. Anthony Harris also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Tarpon Springs entered their tilt with North Port with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Tarpon Springs blew past North Port 34-8. Considering Tarpon Springs has won five contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Parkees Harris was his usual excellent self, rushing for 195 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Harris hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.
Their wins bumped Indian Rocks Christian to 6-3 and Tarpon Springs to 7-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Indian Rocks Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 235.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Tarpon Springs struggles in that department as they've been even better at 268.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
