McDowell had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 4-6 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Freedom Patriots 8-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Titans also won the last time the pair played back in June of 2021.

Kaine Boone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Drue Rose was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Danny Brown was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one run and one double.
As for Freedom, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by just one run.
Like McDowell, Freedom also got a great game from a two-way player: LUKE MILLER. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. MILLER also tossed two walks, which is notable because Freedom is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-7 otherwise. MILLER was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, PUCKETT HUDSON was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was KADEN MICHAELS, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Looking ahead, McDowell will face off against Mitchell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freedom, they will square off against Enka at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.55 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
