The Live Oak Classical Falcons will head out to face off against the Providence Prep Rams at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Live Oak Classical is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering First Baptist just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by the Saints 59-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Falcons have suffered since November 8, 2024.

Despite the loss, Live Oak Classical saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ashlyn Helton posted seven points along with ten rebounds and four steals. Those ten boards set a new season-high mark for Helton.
Meanwhile, Providence Prep entered their game against Hyde Park back in December of 2024 without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Providence Prep came up short against Hyde Park, falling 57-31. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Rams, who until this match were averaging 29.7 points allowed.
Live Oak Classical will have to keep a close watch on Sara Powitsky and Lilly Hodge, a pair of players who had a big impact on Providence Prep's prior game. Powitsky had six points and eight rebounds, while Hodge posted four points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Providence Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 27 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Live Oak Classical's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Providence Prep, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Live Oak Classical has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Providence Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Live Oak Classical against Providence Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 51-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Live Oak Classical since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
