Softball Recap: Cibola Has No Trouble Against Valencia

Cibola's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Valencia Jaguars with a sharp 11-4 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Gabrielle Moncada was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Neveah Gaw was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Angelica Medina was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Cibola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 11 consecutive contests.

Cibola's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Valencia, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Cibola will take on Hobbs in a tournament on Friday. As for Valencia, they will host Grants at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Valencia's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
