Mansfield Senior is 8-2 against Mt. Vernon since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mansfield Senior Tygers will head out on the road to face off against the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m.
Mansfield Senior's 18-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They suffered a rough 70-45 loss at the hands of Lexington on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Mansfield Senior can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Lexington is ranked 60th).
The losing side was boosted by Kyevi Roane, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dondreas Reese, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 win over Madison Comprehensive on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Mt. Vernon.
Mansfield Senior now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Mt. Vernon, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Mansfield Senior strolled past Mt. Vernon when the teams last played back in January by a score of 57-42. Will Mansfield Senior repeat their success, or does Mt. Vernon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
