The Milpitas Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the San Mateo Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Milpitas lost to Aragon on the road by a decisive 36-20 margin. Milpitas has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, San Mateo fought the good fight in their overtime game against Capuchino on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (34), San Mateo still had to take the loss.
San Mateo might have lost, but man, Gabe Buenrostro was a machine: he rushed for 160 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Buenrostro was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Milpitas has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for San Mateo, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
