Football Recap: Northwood Takes a Loss

After flying high against Minden last Thursday, Northwood came back down to earth. The Falcons and the Loyola College Prep Flyers were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Falcons suffered a 28-27 defeat. The Falcons' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Northwood had strong showings from John Sneed, who gained 150 total yards and three touchdowns, and Kyran Johnson, who gained 224 total yards and a touchdown. Johnson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 120 rushing yards.

Even if they lost, Northwood's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Devin McKenna was especially locked on to Loyola College Prep's QB and sacked him twice. The game marked McKenna's first with multiple sacks this season.

Bryce Restovich continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Loyola College Prep, throwing for 292 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 80 yards and one score. Those 80 rushing yards gave Restovich a new career-high. Jake Black was Restovich's top target, picking up 64 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Northwood's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Loyola College Prep, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Northwood will host Barbe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will need to watch out since the Buccaneers have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games. Loyola College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
