The Penney Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 36-23 to Wellington-Napoleon. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Penney in their matchups with Wellington-Napoleon: they've now lost four in a row.
Kaylin Ellensohn continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wellington-Napoleon, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Ellensohn. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Miller, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Penney bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Wellington-Napoleon, their victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.
Penney is on the road again on Friday and play against Mid-Buchanan at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Mid-Buchanan presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Penney in Missouri (Mid-Buchanan is ranked 75th, while Penney is ranked 301st). Wellington-Napoleon will be home for the holidays to greet Lexington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
