Trista Charles was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Ray, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Asheboro's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Montgomery Central 59-54. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Asheboro in their matchups with Montgomery Central: they've now lost three in a row.
Asheboro's loss came about despite a quality game from Sion Murrain, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Kimry Comer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and four steals.
She wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Asheboro were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Oak Grove is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Asheboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Oak Grove have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 43.1% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Asheboro, though, as they've only made 28.9% of their threes per game this season. Given Oak Grove's sizeable advantage in that area, Asheboro will need to find a way to close that gap.
