The White Oak Roughnecks will head out on the road to face off against the Atlanta Rabbits at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. White Oak is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Friday, White Oak took a serious blow against Tatum, falling 49-15. While losing is never fun, White Oak can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1072nd, while Tatum is ranked 395th).
White Oak's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaxsen Ludlow, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown, and Gavin Sipes who picked up 135 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Atlanta suffered a rough 49-29 defeat at the hands of Jefferson on Friday. Atlanta was down 42-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite their loss, Atlanta saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jayden Riley, who picked up 123 receiving yards and three touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Riley's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. Jamarion Austin was another key contributor, rushing for 138 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
White Oak's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.25 points per game. Atlanta has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
White Oak ended up a good deal behind Atlanta in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, losing 32-15. Can White Oak avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
