Bertie has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Franklin Broncos at 9:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Bertie earned a 53-46 victory over Martin County. Given Bertie's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Martin County is ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zymiere Dempsey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with six assists and five steals. Dempsey is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jah'Kelvin Rascoe, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Franklin gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They breezed by Appomattox Regional Governor's Arts & Tech at home to the tune of 58-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Franklin has posted yet this season.
Bertie's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Franklin, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.
