On Monday, the Jackson Timberwolves faced the Mount Vernon Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Jackson fell 63-54 to Mount Vernon. The game was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but Jackson was outscored by Mount Vernon in the second.
When it comes to explaining why Jackson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Mcferran. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Mcferran scored a full 31.5% of Jackson's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Henry Johnson, who scored 9 points.
Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Mount Vernon, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson will take on Lynden at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Mount Vernon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Baker at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Baker will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Mount Vernon is ranked seventh).
