In what's become a running theme this season, the Rocky River Pirates gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Olmsted 54-17 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Rocky River has posted since November 22, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rocky River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mackenzie Russell, who scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Russell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ava Patti, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, North Olmsted struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Rocky River now has a winning record of 7-6. As for North Olmsted, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rocky River will take on Buckeye at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Buckeye focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday. North Olmsted's road trip will continue as they head out to face Elyria Catholic at 12:30 p.m. on January 27th. Elyria Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Olmsted in Ohio (Elyria Catholic is ranked 142nd, while North Olmsted is ranked 364th).
