Marissa/Coulterville and Red Bud are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Meteors will head out to face off against the Musketeers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Marissa/Coulterville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Valmeyer 12-0. Winning may never get old, but the Meteors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Not much got past Paityn Hand, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Valmeyer off the board. Hand has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ayla Ranck was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maci McLaughlin, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
16 must be Red Bud's lucky number: they beat Wesclin with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Musketeers beat the Warriors by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Musketeers.
Olivia Geralds made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. Geralds was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Kreher, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ava Wagner, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Red Bud pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Marissa/Coulterville, their record now sits at 10-4.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Marissa/Coulterville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Red Bud struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marissa/Coulterville might still be hurting after the 15-3 defeat they got from Red Bud when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Meteors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
