Bosco Tech greeted the New Year with with a 79-65 victory over Verbum Dei Jesuit. Given Bosco Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Verbum Dei Jesuit is ranked 590th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bosco Tech was led to victory by Ryan Osborne and Jaden Erami . Osborne scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, while Erami scored 33 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Osborne 's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Darius Benitez , who scored 13 points along with three blocks.
Bosco Tech has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Verbum Dei Jesuit, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Bosco Tech will be playing at home against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday. As for Verbum Dei Jesuit, they will head out on the road to face off against Mary Star of the Sea at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mary Star of the Sea will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
