The Bothell Cougars pushed their score all the way to 56 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gig Harbor. While losing is never fun, Bothell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Gig Harbor is ranked 54th).
Bothell's loss came despite strong showings from Kingston Mclaughlin and Jarell Fermon. Mclaughlin dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Fermon scored 17 points along with seven assists. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Mclaughlin, who scored 11 points.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bothell won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Skyline at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th. As for Gig Harbor, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Bothell/Inglemoor at 4:00 p.m. Bothell/Inglemoor knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Gig Harbor likes a good challenge.
