The Mountain View Eagles will challenge the Lackawanna Trail Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Mountain View's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Forest City 13-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their one-run performance the game before.
Jordan Jagger and Josh Miller made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Jagger tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Miller tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jagger also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mountain View is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-4 otherwise. At bat, Jagger went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Miller went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Miller has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Ian Briechle and Jesse Keating did most of the damage at the plate: Briechle went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Keating got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI and one double. Those three runs gave Briechle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hudson Bain, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lackawanna Trail kicked off their season on the road back in March and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against Mid Valley, falling 18-6. The Lions have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Lackawanna Trail saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Jervis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Lackawanna Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything went Mountain View's way against Lackawanna Trail in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Mountain View made off with an 8-2 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
