Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meadowdale). They blew past the Cascade Bruins 11-3 on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Mavericks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Daniel Smith made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Meadowdale got a massive performance out of Tristan Dodds, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Dodds has posted since back in March. Anthony Scholl was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meadowdale hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cascade struck out eight times.
Meadowdale's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Cascade, they dropped their record down to 3-12 with the loss, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meadowdale will host Everett at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cascade, they will be playing at home against Arlington at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
