King Academy kicked off their season on the road two weeks ago and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a rough 56-28 loss at the hands of Our Lady of the Rosary. King Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-14.
Even though Cambridge Academy has not done well against Anderson Christian recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Cambridge Academy took down Anderson Christian 57-38. Given Cambridge Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Anderson Christian is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cambridge Academy relied on the efforts of Maddox Lee, who scored 18 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds, and Andrew Wiley, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Lee's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Funderburk, who scored 3 points along with 4 steals.
King Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Cambridge Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.
