The Paxton Bobcats won the last time they faced the Laurel Hill Hoboes, and things went their way on Thursday too. Paxton strolled past Laurel Hill with points to spare, taking the game 57-39. Given Paxton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Laurel Hill is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lexie Nagy was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Falk, who scored 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Laurel Hill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aiyana Dixon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Dixon also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Arlana Williams was another key contributor, scoring five points along with four steals.
Laurel Hill struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Paxton racked up 16 assists.
The victory makes it two in a row for Paxton and bumps their season record up to 13-3. As for Laurel Hill, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4.
Paxton on the road again on Thursday and play against Bethlehem at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for Laurel Hill, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on East Hill Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. East Hill Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
