The Central Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Marion County, falling 45-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Central has suffered since December 1, 2023.
Marion County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Angel Ellington out in front who scored 12 points along with five steals. Ellington continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Valencia Alridge, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Central bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Marion County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Webster County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Webster County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Marion County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Schley County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Schley County is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
