Menendez has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Yulee Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Menendez narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Matanzas 14-12.
Menendez's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Watson, who picked up 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Cash Downey also helped out by tossing the rock for 270 yards.
Meanwhile, Yulee put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 33-6 victory over West Nassau at home. Given Yulee's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 159th, while West Nassau is ranked 371st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shamarion Gibbs was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Teont? Artis-croxton also helped out as he racked up 123 rushing yards.
Menendez has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Yulee, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Menendez took a serious blow against Yulee in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 35-7. Can Menendez avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
