Plainfield won the last time they faced Hillside and things went their way on Monday too. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Comets. Considering the Cardinals have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Angel Cruz was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Duanel Alvarado was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Plainfield pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hillside, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Coming up, Hillside will be playing in front of their home fans against North Star Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainfield will be paying especially close attention to the Comets' game: after the Comets face off against Orange, they'll take on Plainfield again at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
