The Piedmont Academy Cougars fell victim to the Lake Oconee Academy Titans''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Titans, falling 55-0. Piedmont Academy's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it five in a row.
Hunter Cleveland threw for 106 yards on eight of 20 attempts. Mason Tumlin was his top target, picking up 68 receiving yards. On the ground, Hunter Thomson rushed for 35 yards.
Ike Oneal went supernova for Lake Oconee Academy, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while also throwing for 204 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes. Hayes Fleming was in the mix as well, providing Lake Oconee Academy with two touchdowns.
Piedmont Academy's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-0 Central Fellowship Christian Academy and 7-3 Briarwood Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63% over those games). As for Lake Oconee Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Piedmont Academy will be playing at home against Trinity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Christian is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Lake Oconee Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
