While losing is never fun, Covenant Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Fairfax HomeSchool is ranked 102nd).
When it comes to explaining why Covenant Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Candland. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Candland has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Marvin, who scored six points along with five steals.
Covenant Christian Academy dropped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Fairfax HomeSchool, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
