The New Paltz Huguenots''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Port Jervis, falling 62-0. While losing is never fun, New Paltz can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 503rd, while Port Jervis is ranked 177th).
Port Jervis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Theodore out in front who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. Dylan Fox was another key contributor, rushing for 54 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
New Paltz's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.0 points per game. As for Port Jervis, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
New Paltz will head out on the road to face off against Chester/Seward Park on Friday. Port Jervis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
