Poth is 7-1 against Nixon-Smiley since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Poth will take on Nixon-Smiley at 7:00 p.m. Poth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Nixon-Smiley will be up against a hot Poth squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Poth put the hurt on Luling with a sharp 15-2 victory on Friday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
Major Luna made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Poth let Austin Simmons and Lucas Trevino run wild. Simmons scored two runs while going 3-for-5, while Trevino scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Simmons a new career-high in RBI (three). Walker Stevens was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Poth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .324 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Nixon-Smiley came up short against Karnes City on Friday and fell 6-1.
Nixon-Smiley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Amaya, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Layne Stewart also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Poth's record now sits at 14-4. As for Nixon-Smiley, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Nixon-Smiley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Poth hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Nixon-Smiley, though, as they've only averaged .217. Will they be able to contain Poth's hitters?
Poth took their win against Nixon-Smiley when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 8-0. Will Poth repeat their success, or does Nixon-Smiley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
