Softball Recap: Kalama Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Kalama won the last time they faced Castle Rock and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chinooks never let the Rockets get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Chinooks have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Delaney Rinard made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, Brookelyn Waddle and Brooklyn Lavigne did most of the damage at the plate: Waddle went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double, while Lavigne went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Lavigne has posted since back in March. Colbie Manninen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Kalama kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Kalama pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Castle Rock, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Kalama will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rockets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
