Overbrook hasn't had much luck against Woodstown recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rams will take on the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Overbrook has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Overbrook couldn't beat Schalick on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Rams took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alaina Dufresne led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Cecelia Mitchell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Woodstown came out on top against Schalick on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Wolverines blew past the Cougars 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Leah Clark spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Elizabeth Wygand was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Hitchner, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Woodstown is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Overbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Both Overbrook and Woodstown just can't seem to miss. The Rams have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Woodstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Overbrook came out on top in a nail-biter against Woodstown when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
