Softball Recap: Dundee-Crown Wins Going Away Against Wauconda

Dundee-Crown had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Wauconda on Thursday. The Chargers blew past the Bulldogs 7-1. The Chargers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 3rd (when they won 14-4).

Reese Westland tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jordyn Jeffs was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Abigail Hsu, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Dundee-Crown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

Dundee-Crown's record now sits at 10-20. As for Wauconda, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-23.

Coincidentally, Dundee-Crown and Wauconda will both be playing Grayslake Central the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Rams at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, while the Chargers will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
