The matchup between the South Pike Eagles and the Jefferson County Tigers on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. South Pike managed a 77-73 win over Jefferson County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for South Pike.
South Pike's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lavell Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jovon Leavy, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds.
South Pike is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for Jefferson County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Pike will take on Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Jefferson County, they will head out on the road to face off against Northeast Jones at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday.
