The Animas Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Mesilla Valley Christian School 62-26. Animas has struggled against Mesilla Valley Christian School recently, as their match on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kohan Evans, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Renteria, who scored two points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Animas dropped their record down to 2-17 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.
Animas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-30 loss vs. Cliff on the 10th. Mesilla Valley Christian School will head out on the road to take on Magdalena at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mesilla Valley Christian School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Magdalena is ranked 28th).
