KIPP Bold City took a 49-34 bruising from Fernandina Beach. While losing is never fun, KIPP Bold City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 623rd, while Fernandina Beach is ranked 294th).
KIPP Bold City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Banks, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Joel Hunt was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Fernandina Beach's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jesse Basse, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Townsend, who scored seven points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for KIPP Bold City and nudges their season record down to 5-11. As for Fernandina Beach, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. KIPP Bold City will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Global Outreach Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Global Outreach Charter Academy will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Fernandina Beach won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Parker at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Parker is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
