The Centennial Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against Ironwood Ridge as Centennial made off with a 59-37 victory. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Centennial as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Centennial got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elena Gonzales out in front who scored 22 points along with three steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Joy Hunt, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Ironwood Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Molly Walter. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Scarlett Barton was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Ironwood Ridge were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only pulled down 19 offensive rebounds.
Centennial's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Ironwood Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.
