5A District 2 recap November 5, 2013
Guthrie added to the longest winning streak in 5A District 2 this week by beating Bishop McGuinness, 33-7. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Northwest Classen lost to Deer Creek 59-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. T'Auboleik Vick ran for 131 yards in the defeat.
Northwest Classen's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Eric McGee threw for 24 yards and Fre'Darian Ashley had 29 yards receiving. On the ground Vick contributed 131 yards.
Vick was a passing and rushing force as Lloyd Smith's team fell to the Antlers.
Vick was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Ashley added to the ground attack by rushing for 24 yards.
Northwest Classen's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. McGee has thrown for 795 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Ashley has 36 catches for 534 yards.
Carl Albert's Steven Thompson needs only 63 yards against El Reno next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Thompson has rushed for 937 yards on 126 carries so far this year.
The Knights are currently in fifth, while Guthrie is in first.
The Indians made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,349 from 7,889. The improvement was largely due to a 47-6 victory over Guymon last week.
